Nice shot, part 3

The 400 Blows
The amazing end sequence of The 400 Blows consists of 3 shots, but the second is really only a small piece tying together these two shots, the first and the last.

This first shot is one of the longest dolly shots ever committed to film. It's amazing even by today's standards, but even more amazing when you consider that this was filmed in 1959, with the equipment they had available.

Here's the famous last shot of the film: running on the beach toward the water, the (at that time) extremely unconventional look into the lens, the freeze frame, and the optical "zoom" effect onto Antoine's face. A beautiful shot.
